Kayla Morales-Thomason earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Elon University. Following graduation, she completed a two-year Post-Baccalaureate Clinical Fellowship at McLean Hospital’s 3East Adolescent DBT Residential Program, where she worked with adolescents receiving comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her clinical experience also includes working with children and adolescents in inpatient settings and adults in community-based care. Kayla is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Couples and Family Therapy at William James College.
Kayla has a particular interest in working with school-aged children and adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, relational, and developmental challenges. She takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach to therapy, with an emphasis on building a strong therapeutic relationship and understanding each client within the context of their unique experiences and relationships.
Kayla values collaboration with parents while creating a space where children and adolescents feel heard and understood, empowering them to take an active role in their own growth. She works to meet each client where they are while helping them build insight, develop effective coping skills, and create meaningful change. When she’s not working or studying, Kayla can often be found spending time with her dog.
